Admission & Registration Unit

The Admission and Registration unit is the central hub for all student academic administration at Unity University. It ensures that students are properly admitted, registered, documented, and supported in compliance with university policies and national regulations.

♦ Purpose / Function

The Admission and Registration unit at Unity University is responsible for managing all student entry, enrollment, and academic record services. This includes:

  • Processing new student admissions (undergraduate, postgraduate, transfer, foreign, remedial, and TVET)
  • Managing semester registration through both SIS (online) and manual systems
  • Issuing and processing academic documents such as transcripts, student copies, degrees, and letters
  • Handling student identification services (ID issuance and renewal)
  • Facilitating authentication and verification of academic credentials

This office ensures that all students are properly registered, documented, and eligible for academic services throughout their study period.

♦ Policies / Directives

All services under this unit are governed by Unity University Senate Legislation and national higher education regulations. Key policies include:

  • Registration Requirement:

All students must complete semester registration within the academic calendar to maintain active status.

  • Payment Policy:

Registration is valid only after full payment and system confirmation (SIS or manual).

  • Course Load Limit:

Maximum of 18 credit hours per semester, unless approved by the Registrar or Department Head.

  • Document Authenticity:

All submitted academic credentials must be authenticated by the appropriate government authority (e.g., Ethiopian Examination Agency, ETA).

  • Transfer & Exemption Policy:
    • Course exemption must not exceed 33% of total program credits
    • Students must complete at least 67% of their program at Unity University
  • Foreign Student Requirement:
    • Must have valid passport (minimum 6 months validity)
    • Must present Student Visa / Refugee ID / Yellow Card
    • Must provide Equivalence Letter from ETA (if prior education is outside Ethiopia)
    • Tuition fee is double that of local students
  • Student Responsibility:
    • Students must present ID (or admission slip) for any service
    • Delegation is not allowed for registration
    • Students must keep all receipts and official documents

All admission, registration, and document-related services are primarily handled at:

  • Registrar Main Office – Room 04
  • Cashier / Payment Office – Room 01
  • Document Processing & Authentication – Room 02
  • Support Services / Letters / Processing – Room 04
  • Main Office (Final Approval & Degree Collection) – 5th Floor

♦  Steps for Online Registration

  • Download Cam Scanner application
  • Your original documents (Grade 8 and 12 certificate, 9-12 transcript, exemption and student copy).
  • Merge all files and then Change to PDF File (by using Google)
  • Compress the file until or less than 2 MGB (by using Google)
  • Scan your photo separately (JPEG file)
  • Search sis.uu.edu.et (by Google/Chrome)
  • Select Online Administration, fill the Form
  • Use Year-Month-Date format to fill Birth date column
  • When you finish select submit
  • Get Code Number
  • Obtain code number for yourself by making screen shoot and then show the number for Unity University Officers (01)….
