Unity University
Faculty of Online Education

Online learning is the newest and most popular form of distance education today. Within the past decade it has had a major impact on postsecondary education and the trend is only increasing. Online learning has made higher education more accessible – especially to working adults, caregivers, students with disabilities, and others who have schedules and responsibilities that are incompatible with attendance in traditional, face-to-face classroom instruction. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, online learning has become more centric in people’s lives. The pandemic has forced schools, universities, and companies to remote working and this booms the usage of online learning.

At this moment, there is a huge demand from people to learn online. So, in this section we will give you information on what Unity University has been doing to launch two online postgraduate programs.
– Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
– Masters of Business Administration in Marketing.

In this year (2023/24 A.Y. or 2016 E.C.), theUniversity’s LMS has been installed, configured, set up the necessary connections, and conducted two pilot testing to check itsbasic functions. The most basicfunctions our LMS offers include:
Schedule For posting and viewing deadlines, events, etc.
Announcements For posting current information to all students.
Syllabus For creating and posting the course syllabus.
Modules For publishing and viewing course content in sections.
Assignments For posting, submitting, and grading student work.
Discussion Board For asynchronous discussions, group work, and
collaboration.
Private Messages For private communication between students and/or
the instructor.
Chat For real-time, synchronous conversation in written form.
Tests & Quizzes For authoring and administering exams, quizzes,
surveys, etc.
So as to serve the prospective students better, the University is planned to launch the abovetwo programs, together with the first batch of thefollowingonline courses, as soon as the University gets its accreditation fromETA.

Recently,ETA’sreview team conductedsite visits on April 9 and 14, 2023. During the visits the review team has taken an overall review of all the inputs and processes we made to begin the two online programs. This has been done following the checklist/guidelines provided to guide the accreditation process. The review team also offered advices and comments on some perceived needs (mainly on the basis of human, material input and the curriculum) for enhancement.

Currently, the entire staff of the Faculty tirelessly working on comments given and need to confirm the successful completion of tasks and/or fulfillment of the ETA requirements on time.

Intended Courses for the Two Online MBA Programs:
MBA-General

The online MBA-general program course requirement can be established based on the existing accredited MBA-general that is being offered at Unity University in face-to-face mode. The content of online courses will be the same as courses offered in face-to-face mode (on-campus courses).

Therefore, the total credit requirement, as set by ETA, ranges from 30-36 including thesis.  Based on preliminary assessment it is recommended that students are expected to complete the following 13 courses with total credit hours of 29 and 6 credit hours of thesis in two years to graduate.

Based on the above requirements, modularizing the curriculum has to be considered; and pedagogically sound instructional design of online courses, student-led, active learning strategies and digital contents have to be developed for Online MBA-general.

MBA Specialization in Marketing

The online MBA—Specialization in marketing program course requirement can be established based on the existing accredited MBA—Specialization in marketing program that is being offered at Unity University in face-to-face mode. The content of online courses will be the same as courses offered in face-to-face mode (on-campus courses). Therefore, the total credit requirement, as set by ETA, ranges from 30-36 including thesis.  Based on preliminary assessment it is recommended that students are expected to complete the following 15 courses with total credit hours of 30 and 6 credit hours of thesis in two years to graduate.

Similar to the MBA-general, modularizing the curriculum has to be considered; and pedagogically sound instructional design of online courses, active learning strategies and digital contents have to be developed for Online MBA specialization in Marketing.

The minimum requirement for students to participate in our online course is fulfilling the admission/entrance requirements, access to a computer, the internet, and the motivation to succeed in a non-traditional classroom. Online courses provide an excellent method of course delivery unbound by time or location allowing for accessibility to instruction at anytime from anywhere. Learners find the online environment a convenient way to fit education into their busy lives. The ability to access a course from any computer with Internet access, 24 hours a day, seven days a week is a tremendous incentive for many of today’s students. You can visit our website on your laptop, phone or other digital devices.

The experience with these two MBA programs will lead us also to launch additional graduate, undergraduate, and certificate programs with improved online learning platforms and ways of teaching on the coming years.
