Overview

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Unity University supports the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program through two complementary practical training facilities:

  • Nursing Demonstration Room
  • Clinical Laboratory Skills Laboratories

These facilities provide structured practical training before students enter hospitals and health centers. While both are skills-based learning environments, they serve different but interrelated educational purposes.

All laboratories are equipped with essential instruments, simulation models, and instructional materials, and are staffed by qualified academic and technical personnel. The facilities comply with relevant educational and regulatory requirements and provide a safe and supervised learning environment.

Purpose and Function

Nursing Demonstration Room

The Nursing Demonstration Room provides a controlled and safe environment where nursing students practice and master essential clinical procedures prior to clinical placement. It bridges theoretical learning with real patient care and helps students develop competence, confidence, and professional behavior.

Students develop clinical reasoning, communication skills, teamwork, and decision-making abilities, preparing them for hospital and health-center attachments.

Clinical Laboratory Skills Laboratories

The Clinical Laboratory Skills Laboratories provide handson training in diagnostic and laboratory procedures for nursing students. The laboratories enable students to apply theoretical knowledge and perform accurate and safe diagnostic practices, including:

  • Specimen collection, handling, and labeling
  • Microscopy and parasite identification
  • Hematological investigations (e.g., blood examination)
  • Clinical chemistry tests
  • Basic bacteriological techniques and staining procedures
  • Laboratory safety and infection prevention
  • Students acquire analytical skills, accuracy, proper laboratory safety practices, and the ability to interpret common laboratory results used in patient management.

The Nursing Demonstration Room and the Clinical Laboratory Skills Laboratories enable graduates to become competent in both patientcare procedures and diagnostic support. This integrated training prepares students for safe clinical practice and effective participation in multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
